2023 High School Scholarship


The Award

1st MS Federal Credit Union will offer two (2) non-recurring awards of $1,000.00 each.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must be a member in good standing with 1st MS Federal Credit Union.
  2. Applicant must be a high-school graduating senior and accepted to an accredited 2- or 4-year institution and attending college or vocational/technical school for the first time. Scholarship must be used exclusively to pay the tuition or associated costs of named winner only at an accredited 2- or 4- year institution/vocational/technical school.
  3. Applicants must consent to 1st MS Federal Credit Union use of their name, statements and likeness without compensation in any and all promotional and advertising activity, by whatever method the credit union chooses.
  4. Applicants may submit their application packet:

    2. Via mail: 600 19th Ave., Meridian, MS 39301 (Attn: Scholarship)
    3. Via drop off at our main office or Quitman office

Application Process

Only one (1) entry per applicant.

  1. Applicant must already be a member in good standing or become a member by opening at least a savings account. Driver’s license/I.D. and social security card needed to open account with $25.00 cash that will go into the member’s savings account.
  2. Applicant must complete scholarship application with parent or guardian signature certifying the application.
  3. An original essay on how you can use your current field of study to give back to your community and why this is important to you, also what affect will this have on your community, 500–700 words in length (must be English). Essay must be typed in Arial, Times New Roman, or Calibri font (no larger than 12 pt.) and submitted either in Word or PDF format (if emailing, attach the Word or PDF document. If mailing or bringing by, print out).
  4. A copy of acceptance letter or other proof of acceptance from accredited 2 or 4 year institution (college or vocational/technical school).
  5. Submit the required documents by May 31, 2023. Winners will be announced June 7, 2023.
